Pronounced as: “THAY-ah”
Theia was a Titan—a type of divine being who predated Zeus, Athena, and the other Olympians. She gave birth to the sun, moon, and possibly the stars. Ancient Greeks also believed a person’s eyes emitted a beam of invisible light which allowed one to sort of ‘touch’ whatever one saw—and they believed this was tied to Theia.
